DGT provides more than 80 million trips this summer, two more than the previous year

The Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) will launch this Friday at 15.00 parea hours a special operation to address the more than 80 million trips planned for this summer (38 million in July and 42 million in August), representing an increase of two million trips from last summer, as announced by the Minister of Interior, Jorge Fernández Díaz.

During a press conference at the Ministry of Interior, by the Director of Traffic, Follow Maria, Fernandez Diaz noted that last year killed 260 people in accidents and has relied on “with the cooperation of all” this number can be reduced.

For this, DGT speed controls focus on secondary roads, as, as recalled by the Minister, of the 260 dead people last summer, 208 killed in one of these pathways.

So far this year, have lost their lives 475 people in traffic accidents on interurban roads, 127 less –a 21 percent less– than the same period last year, as, according to Minister, “stimulates” the Government to continue working.
